Overview

This project aims to improve the performance and productivity of selected irrigation schemes through identifying and implementing targeted interventions in two West African countries, namely Burkina Faso and Niger. The interventions will be implemented through a consortium of institutions including NARES, irrigation management institutions, and NGOs with expertise capable of revitalizing existing irrigation systems under the leadership and support of the Comité Inter-Etats de Lutte contre la Sécheresse au Sahel (CILSS) and the International Water Management Institute (IWMI). It is expected that the lessons learned would lend themselves for up-scaling and out-scaling within the project countries and throughout the West Africa region.
