Start Date: 1 January 2009 | End Date: 31 December 2011

This is an annual project carried out as part of the CGIAR HarvestPlus Challenge Program, which is bringing together scientific and research resources of the CGIAR to combat malnutrition in the developing world. Using phenotypic and marker-assisted selection, this project aims to biofortify varieties of beans to create lines with higher mineral content, especially iron, and superior agronomic traits. Bioefficacy trials are also conducted to demonstrate the value of high-iron beans.
