Overview

This project will focus on genebank upgrading for barley, chickpea, faba bean, wheat, forages, and lentil. This phase will address forages and cleaning the collections from seed-borne viruses and diseases. The introduction of a barcoding system will further improve the quality and effectiveness of genebank operations. The upgrading of the current herbarium will facilitate forage species identification and will allow for its full exploitation in training the NARS staff. The following activities will be completed in this project: 1. Removal of backlogs in the processing of accessions into storage. 2. Upgrading of equipment and systems and removal of backlogs in regeneration, characterization, health and viability testing, and documentation and supply
