Overview

This project aims to develop an integrated management program for BLB based on varietal resistance and sound knowledge of the pathogen’s population structure. Activities include surveys of BLB epidemics in farmers’ fields; investigation of the roles of alternate hosts and infected seeds in epidemic development; collection and isolation of BLB isolates; pathotyping on near-isogenic lines; molecular characterization of isolates and development of diagnostic tool; screening for resistance to BLB; identifying donors for resistance; and meetings, in-house training and training at BSc level.

can i get the full text of this paper?

  2. Hezron K. Tusekelege says:

how BLB isolates can be characterized? and what are the diagnostics tools required?

I want to carry out a PhD research on Potato Bacterial wilt using one of the topics bell.I do not know if there is any help your institute can do to me as regards it.This is because i saw a research on a topic similar to my proposed topic.

The research topic i saw is
Characterization of the pathogen population structure of bacterial leaf blight of rice in West Africa as a prerequisite for the identification and deployment of durable resistance
Please may i Know the methods you used in characterisation and if i can get the full text on the topic?
Characterization of the pathogen population structure of bacterial wilt of potato in Nigeria and studies on host pathogen interaction.

    OR
Characterization of the pathogen population structure of bacterial wilt of potato in Nigeria and evaluation of local and elite gene pools for sources of resistance.

I look forward to hearing from you,
    Thanks,
