Overview

MozSAKSS is a collaborative initiative between the Ministry of Agriculture-Directorate of Economics (MINAG-DE) and ICRISAT, IFPRI, and IWMI. The program will strengthen MINAG-DE’s ability to monitor and assess overall performance and expenditures in the agricultural sector; determine policy and investment options for agriculture and rural development; finance participation by MINAG officials in regional initiatives for agriculture; and promote policy debate and a think-tank culture among national stakeholders, in order to enhance the use of research-based evidence in policy dialogues and decisionmaking.

By working closely with counterparts, particularly MINAG-DE, the project is expected to strengthen local capacity to manage and use statistical and information systems; help the country to meet regional and national goals for agricultural growth and expenditure; enhance rural development; and reduce poverty, food insecurity, and malnutrition.
